Sept 1, 2008- Ricardo Quaresma at Inter, will wear # 77 jersey, contract 2013- Video arriving Linate airport, Sept 2 Quaresma in press conference

I'm so excited to see Quaresma at Inter, in the Italian soccer serie A. This will be great. Now who's place will he take Mancini's or Figo's??

I want to see him in the Milan derby Inter v. AC Milan and AC Milan v. Inter and score his famous trivela goal!

Boa sorte Quaresma!!!!

MILANO - Ricardo Andrade Quaresma Bernardo è dell'Inter.

"I'm very happy to get here at Inter. The first sensation is very beautiful. I'm sure I got to a club with big players. Now I have to work immediately and fit in with the team as soon as possible. And, help the team achieve its objectives.

I think that we can play against any other team. in Italy tehre are great players. We can face Milan like we can face another team. I feel ready and ready to play with any opponent. I think any player wants to improve his contract. It's obvious that having cost a lot it's a responsiblity. But responsibilty doesn't scare me. I faced other responsibilities before."

01:19- Jose Mourinho said in Italian, English translation:
"Our team is now balanced. With options for players in different roles and tactics. I have everything at my disposal. It's a pity that a winning player like him, that in this moment has 4, 6,9, 10 titles couldn't arrive 10 days ago and win the Supercup, because he could have had 11. I think that in the end of the season, he could have more [titles]. A player young like him. Where can he play? on the right, left, 4-4-2, 4-3-3. He can play on the bench, he can play in the

At his moment I have to thank the work of the club, president Marco. Both of them I think have to go on vacation tomorrow. He's the only player who scored against a team of mine, that after that I buy him and want him. This is a miracle. Everyone has to know that if you score against me, you won't play in my team. Good! (Va Bene?). "

According to Yahoo Sport Italia, and RTP news Quaresma is in Inter, Inter will announce tomorrow

Until Inter announces on their official website inter.it that Portuguese Ricardo Quaresma signed for FC Inter, then I'll believe Quaresma is in Inter. Today, August 31, 2008, on

-- Yahoo Sport Italia! that Inter did sign him and that Quaresma is in Milan, Italy tonight.

Here's what Yahoo Sport Italia! says (Italian):
-----------
Calciomercato - Quaresma è sbarcato a Milano

Eurosport - lun, 01 set 00:50:00 2008

--------
English translation:
In the evening an agreement was found for the transfer of the Portuguese to Inter. Quaresma arrived in Milan late in the evening.

Inter grabbed from FC Porto the Portuguese talent for 20 million euro plus all of Pelè's, that is 8 million euro. The nerazzura club eased the method of payment for the Portuguese club, they may pay in 4 parts. Many fans are waiting for him at the Linate airport.

One of the summer transfer market soap operas ended. Tomorrow, the player will sign a contract of 5 years with Inter. Mourinho had asked many times for the acquisition, even after the draw at Marassi.

At this point, "The Special one" was satisfied in everything. When he arrived, he had asked Inter to buy a central midfielder and 2 "esterni offensivi." For the first position, Muntari arrived, while for the other there was and precisely, Quaresma. And to think that just yesterday night the president [Inter] Massimo Moratti had declared pessimistically, "Quaresma? I don't think he'll arrive, we don't need him" were his words.

In the end, what won was the need and requests from former Chelsea coach "I respect the president and the society. They know my opinion, for the last 2 months I have said that I need a player like Quaresma. If it's a decision for the club I respect it and I will work with what I have. Sincerely I have to say I'm missing a fast winger that has creativity and Quaresma is a player that that Inter needs."

------------
Quaresma does have an ego because he knows he's a very good player. FC Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira was not shy to exclude him from the team call-up list 3 times last season. Everyone knew he was perfectly healthy. We'll see if he shows "prima donna" attitudes in Inter and how Mourinho will deal with it.

I can't believe how much Mourinho wanted to sign Quaresma (if it's true).

I think he will take Figo's place. Figo might play as a substitute.

-What do you think of Quaresma? Who's place will he take Figo or Mancini's? Seen Quaresma play with FC Porto or the Portugal national team?

Aug 31, 2008 According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (Italian paper) Inter has Quaresma- waiting for Inter's official announcement

I went on the Inter website, Italian version, and on the latest news no Quaresma announcement. I go on the Gazzetta Dello Sport, and they say Inter finalized the deal with Quaresma. Here's the Italian version of today's Gazzetta article:
----------------------

Inter, Quaresma at night, cover of Corriere Dello Sport, August 29, 2008

Quaresma close to Inter again. I see the cover and I'm skeptical. Since Jose Mourinho is at Inter, Quaresma is linked to Inter.

Ok, FC Porto coach, Jesualdo Ferreira hasn't included him in the call-up list for FC Porto's game THIS WEEKEND and LAST WEEKEND. That should be a hint that he's transferring.

I can't stand the wait.

Quaresma was not included in the FC Porto team call-up list last weekend. His agent was in Milan, Italy a few days ago. I really hope Quaresma leaves to Inter this season.

According to this edition of Italian sports paper, Quaresma is close to Inter. I've been reading that since the Euro 2008. I hope it is not just talk and that FC Porto accepts Inter's offer. It would be so great to see him at the Serie A.

Quaresma close to Inter? Ricardo Quaresma will not play in the 1st game of the Portuguese League 2008-2009- Not in call-up list

Ricardo Quaresma- is he close to Inter Milan? Probably. I doubt it. One thing is for sure:

Ricardo Quaresma will not play in the 1st game of the Portuguese League 2008-2009 tomorrow, Sunday August 24, 2008!

He was not in the call up list of FC Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira. For FC Porto- Belenenses, Sunday, August 24, 2008, 19h15. Call up list:

Goalkeepers: Helton e Nuno

Defenders: Sapunaru, Fucile, Bruno Alves, Pedro Emanuel, Rolando, Benítez

Midfielders: Guarín, Raul Meireles, Lucho González, Tomás Costa e Bolatti

Forwards: Mariano, Lisandro, Cristian Rodríguez, Hulk e Farías

At this point it's affecting him being called up for the Portugal natioanl team. Quaresma has NOT played in FC Porto's pre-season games. Only in 1 game back in July. Portugal coach Queiroz did not include him in the call-up list for the friendly on August 20, Portugal 5-0 Faroe Islands.

The other 2 FC Porto players in the national team Raul Meireles, and Bruno Alves were called up.

'The president knows what I think of my team' Jose Mourinho about Quaresma close to Inter, August 16, 2008 Video

Quaresma is not close to Inter for 2008. Jose Mourinho doesn't even say his name and instead says that the President [of Inter] knows his vision what he wants.

August 16, 2008- Jose Mourinho in Portuguese in the press-conference after the Eusebio Cup. About Quaresma close to Inter, English Translation:

"The president knows what I think of my team. He knows what I think of the club today, of my club tomorrow, of my club next year, of my club 2 years from now. He knows my vision of the present and future. He knows everything I think. It's my president who's supposed to know not you. I understand your questions, but what I say is for them not for you."

Quaresma? We'll need to get rid of 2 or 3 players at Inter

Inter already has 2 or 3 players that play in Quaresma's position. To get Quaresma Inter will need to get rid of 2 or 3 players. So they're "overbooked."

Inter president Massimo Moratti said in Italian on Corriere Dello Sport, Italian newspaper from Rome,

"We have a team with 6 forwards that can be in the starting lineup. To sign Quaresma we would have to sell 2 or 3 players, and I think that will be difficult."

"In defense, and despite having some difficulty, it is not the coach's intention for more reinforcements. 'Quaresma? I don't think so.'

Jose Mourinho expressed the same feeling after the Amsterdam Tournament.

"Quaresma can give the team the possibility of playing with more tactical options, but there are already players like that in the team. If we want to play in the wings there's Figo and Mancini. If we want to just play with one winger and 2 forwards, names are not missing."

- What do you think of his statements? Quaresma can play more frequently than Figo. Why didn't coach Roberto Mancini use Figo that much?

"Inter, I'll sell you Quaresma" Cover of Italian paper Corriere Dello Sport

Looking at the cover of the Italian papers for any speculation on Quaresma, check this one!

They interviewed FC Porto president, loved by fans, Pinto Da Costa

Costa is still optimistic, "Si Puo fare" (It can happen). I sure hope it does! I want this Quaresma Porto transfer talk to end now.

It's strange because in yesterday's FC Porto- Leixoes Quaresma did NOT play! Not even in the call-up list. He's perfectly healthy.

I'm not so sure Inter will get him because of the unexpected Materazzi injury. They might be on the lookout for a central defender this time.

"I think that in Portugal, Quaresma has won all that's to win..." says Luis Figo

The Quaresma transfer talks had cooled down last week. Today, we know his agent Jorge Mendes is in Milan, Italy and that FC Porto is willing to lower the price of 40 million euros. Now, Figo weighs in and is in favor of Quaresma leaving FC Porto so Quaresma can keep improving.

Luis Figo is right now with Inter's pre-season in Riscone di Brunico. In an interview to TVI Luis Figo said in Portuguese:
English translation:

"It depends on FC Porto. I think that in Portugal, he [Quaresma] has won all that is to win, and despite it [FC Porto] being an excellent club, there are always ways to improve."

("Depende do FC Porto. Eu acho que em Portugal, ele já ganhou tudo o que há para ganhar e, apesar de estar num excelente clube, há sempre hipóteses de melhorar")

What number does Quaresma have at FC Porto?

Figo's number at Inter! Both wear #7. So in case Quaresma does go to Inter this season, I'm positive he's not getting his FC Porto number. I wonder what number he will get. Figo even had #7 in the Portugal national team and when he retired, Cristiano Ronaldo got it.

What does this have to do with the Portugal national team upcoming matches?

Like Figo says, I also agree that Ricardo Quaresma needs new challenges in European competitions. Always time to improve skills and gain more experience. At Inter with Jose Mourinho he's going to the equivalent of FC Porto, in the Serie A. The reigning league champions, one of the big 3 clubs in the league. The big difference is that he'll face more experienced international players in the Serie A.

- Do you agree with Figo?

Quaresma closer to Inter, cover of La Gazzetta Dello Sport and A Bola, July 22, 2008

Looking at these 2 covers, it gets my hopes up on Quaresma really moving this season. It looked like the negotiations had stalled with FC Porto just asking too much to let go of Quaresma.

According to these papers, Quaresma's agent is in Milan, Italy ready to close the deal. If he does, I can't wait for his Inter presentation with Mourinho. Let's see what number of jersey he gets.

From Italy, La Gazzetta Dello Sport. Top right: "L'Inter Stringe per Quaresma"

From Portugal, A Bola:

"Inter already with millionaire contract for 4 years. 14 million euros for Quaresma. Jorge Mendes [Agent] is already in Milan to close the deal. FC Porto will confirm his exit today."

I like this one because of the big picture of Quaresma.
I'm a little cynical because they're repeating what we already know. Inter manager Jose Mourinho wants Ricardo Quaresma for his next signing as midfielder. It probably was a slow day for news and the 2 papers decided to put Quaresma and Inter again, without there being any real progress in the negotiations.

Lower the 40 million euro price tag or Quaresma I think stays at FC Porto this season. Transfer talk for Porto's Quaresma

Photo: euro2008.sapo.pt

I was resigned to seeing Ricardo Quaresma at FC Porto this season, 2008-2009 again. I'd like to see him at Inter. The transfer talk for Porto online just seems to confirm that. For instance,

1) Inter signing of 2 players similar to his position, a winger and a midfielder

The signing of winger Mancini who plays like Quaresma on the flanks. The both easily switch from left to right, helps set up goals, or score themselves (Remember: Mancini's goal against Lyon at Stade Gerland in the Champions League. Quaresma's goal against my favorite club Chelsea at their home stadium Stamford Bridge in 2007).

The signing of Chelsea midfielder Lampard. Like Mike put in a comment in my other post "I think R. Quaresma is staying at FC Porto this season. Do you think he'll still go to Inter this season?" "Did you really think they'll sign another midfielder?" I say, of course! Jose Mourinho hasn't denied that he needs a midfielder. Today he repeated it in Inter's press-conference.

2) Present at FC Porto pre-season training in Germany:

Uruguayan Cristian Rodríguez was in the starting lineup in the game FC Porto- PAOK Salónica. The pre-season game. Ricardo Quaresma was on the bench. The official reason FC Porto gave was that he had "indisposição gástrica" gastric problems. I'm very skeptical. So my version would be "his head was not at FC Porto" so he went to the bench.

I know it doesn't mean much that he's with FC Porto right now. His move looks more improbably when he's there.

3) Mourinho said that Quaresma is a player in FC Porto in today's press conference

José Mourinho said in today's 47 minute press conference at Inter that
(I like Quaresma but he's at FC Porto).

(The transfer market finishes until August 31st and we need a midfielder. Lampard is at Chelsea, but I have worked with him very well."

4) FC Porto won't lower the 40 million euro price tag for Quaresma

AC Milan just signed Ronaldinho for 17,5 million euros. Much less than the 40 million euros FC Porto asks. I have a feeling that FC Porto just have an exagerrated price so Quaresma stays. I'm sure that if the price lowers to 30 million euros or even less, Inter will sign Quaresma in a heartbeat.

With all that said, I got very skeptical when I saw today's A Bola cover:

A Bola, July 16, 2008

FC Inter and Porto advance in the negotiations.

Mourinho will have Quaresma

It feels like a cover from the end of June when Inter hadn't signed Mancini.

- Do you think Quaresma will leave FC Porto for Inter this season 2008-2009? Yes? No because FC Porto asks too much?

I think R. Quaresma is staying at FC Porto this season. Do you think he'll still go to Inter this season?

Photo: euro2008.sapo.pt

I think this Quaresma-Inter transfer talk is, a rumor. I wanted Quaresma to leave FC Porto and join Inter. It doesn't look like he will, at least this season.

- FC Porto weren't flexible and rejected Inter's offer on June 27th.

- Inter signed another winger already, from AS Roma, Mancini.

- Quaresma returned to FC Porto's pre-season training in Mainfield Germany. Some Porto fans that went to see the team arrive said "Fica Quaresma" (Stay Quaresma).

We'll have to wait another season for a Quaresma move. Why doesn't FC Porto accept another club's offer or lower their price? I think someone needs to tell FC Porto that Inter is not Chelsea. There's no Abramovich with "big bucks" to pay what it takes to get a player the manager wants.

Quaresma already said he would like to move to a club abroad. The last time he said it was on May 31st.

When I wrote this in the Italiansoccerseriea .com blog a FC Porto fan replied to my comment saying "it didn't mean anything if he's back in trainig with the club. He's going to leave FC Porto" and much more. I agree. But it's clear that Inter is not willing to pay more the 30 million euros for Quaresma. FC Porto are asking 40 million euros. AC Milan, Chelsea or Real Madrid might be willing to. Inter I don't think so.

This season- Quaresma move to Inter? Miguel Veloso to AC Milan? 6 Pending tranfers of Portugal national team players Which one will happen?

By today, most clubs returned to their pre-season training. The big 3 of the Portuguese league already presented their new signings. I was reading the transfer rumors on L'equipe.

Here are some transfers regarding the Portugal national team players that according to the media are about to happen. Which ones do you think will happen? No doubt the most popular/ talked about regarding a Portuguese player from the national team is:

- Ricardo Quaresma current club- FC Porto ---- possible move to Inter

June 27th, Inter representative travelled to Porto, Portugal but FC Porto rejected Inter's offer.
July 1st, Jose Mourinho has already said he's interested in bringing Ricardo Quaresma to Inter.

Will FC Porto agree to Inter's terms and let Quaresma go this season?

--- -Nuno Gomes- currently Benfica

According to Record, new Benfica manager Quique Sanchez Flores had told Nuno Gomes that he didn't count on him this season and to look for another club. For me it's just speculation. Today, Nuno Gomes denied this and so did the Benfica club.

Will Quique have the courage that the last 3 Benfica managers did not have? Get rid of Nuno Gomes?

- Miguel Veloso---current club- Sporting Lisboa ---- possible move to AC Milan, Arsenal

Lots of potential as midfielder. Before the Euro 2008, rumored that Man United wanted him. Juventus already said last week, no longer interested in him. It's rumored that AC Milan want him.

- Joao Moutinho ---- current club- Sporting Lisboa ---- possible move to a premiership club

Great performance in the Euro 2008. Rumored that Premiership clubs are watching him.

- Ricardo Carvalho-- current club- Chelsea FC -------- possible move to Inter

Has hinted that he might leave Chelsea. With Mourinho at Inter, not counting on central defender Materazzi and having a defender on his priority list, it can be Carvalho. I don't think that he'll stay just because Scolari's there.

- Bruno Alves ------ current club-- FC Porto ---------- possible move to Inter

Might be included in a deal between FC Porto and Inter in order to get Quaresma at Inter.

- Which of these player transfers will really happen?
