L'Equipe, June 7, 2008- It's Euro Time. France Football- The Truth of the Blues
ITALY
I liked the L'Equipe one. They included all the Euro 2008 favorites! Germany, France, Portugal. I'm surprised they left out photos of Italy players. Italy has more of a chance than Germany. The 2nd one I liked was the "Record" one- I would have liked to seen more photos of Portugal players on the cover. Not just Cristiano Ronaldo.
To help me improve the general quality and type of content, I would love to know which types of posts you enjoy reading the most.
He was in today's press conference next to Ricardo.
Portugal central defender looks like Scolari's 3rd option. I hope he gets to play at least 1 game in the Euro 2008.
Full name: Fernando José da Silva Freitas Meira
Born in Guimarães, June 5, 1978
Currently plays in VfB Stuttgart. In 2007, captained the club. Usually not Scolari's 1st option as central defender. Now with Pepe around and Bruno Alves. Competition just got stronger for him.
His official site is www.fernando-meira.de/index.php?sprache=pt . I went on the site and it has photos of him with the national team, Stuttgart, send an ecard, wallpapers, screensavers. He's only 3 years older than me.
Here's a photo of him:

Do you think Meira will beat out Pepe and Carvalho in Euro 2008?
Is Meira one of your favorite players?
"Like you know, Spain beat Peru (2-1) in a friendly with agoal in the last minute. Despite the victory, the team didn't leave a good impression. We have to acknowledge that Peru played with one advantage: its manager is not Luis Aragonez."
"Spanish people: we can't let the national team [Spain] give us aonther heartbreak with another failure. That's why today we ask you: Do you want to be with France or with Portugal. Vote and Decide which scarf we'll wear this summer."
"What did you say? You too? You also want Portugal to win? That's why you're managing Spain."

This was too funny. For several reasons. The enmity between Spain and Portugal. France one of the favorites of Euro 2008- more people betting on them to win it. I wouldn't want to show it to the Spain players right now.
Neuchatel, Switzerland, June 2, 2008- In the session to recover from the friendly Portugal-Georgia, there was a hard tackle by Jorge Ribeiro on this player. Photo Source: www.record.pt/fotogaleria_imagemEuro2008.asp?id=789196
He's doing better thank goodness.
Hint 1: Portugal Winger
Hint 2: Incredible dribbler sometimes overshadows Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal matches
Hint 3: Plays for FC Porto
Answer: Ricardo Quaresma.
Did you guess it the first time?

Hint 1: Star player of National team
Hint 2: Look at the label/brand on his green boots
Every Manchester United and Portugal fan worried when they saw this picture.
Answer: Cristiano Ronaldo.
There was a story about the Portugal training tickets. They're being sold on the streets. Sold? Yes, according to UEFA, it's the only natioanl team that SELLS tickets to their training session. Don't ask me why. It has the picture of Cristiano Ronaldo, #17.

If I lived in Switzerland I'd pay to see them train. Even to hear their voices. Or to get an autographs from Helder Postiga and Joao Moutinho.
- At their training, which Portugal player would you want to see up close? Autograph? A Picture with?
Is your favorite team playing on June 7th? Watching the games on TV? What country and city are you in?

Update June 9, 2008. Thanks for voting! I thought the most popular ones would be Cristiano Ronaldo, and Deco. So far:
17% Cristiano Ronaldo
3 with 13% Carvalho, Quaresma, and Ferreira
Nuno Gomes in a TMN commercial cheering like a fan for Quaresma trademark "tribela" goal.

-Portugal training open to the public, June 3rd, 6:30pm and June 8 5pm.
- A multicultural center will be at "Jeunes-Rives" and the downtown "centre-ville." Halfway between the team Hotel Beau-Rivage and the stadium "Maladière" there will be a "multicultural village." It will be open the days when the matches are, at 5pm and close at 11pm or midnight.
I was at Neuchatel a long time ago, in 1999. It was a church retreat and then got to see the lake, the main square. I lost touch with my church friends there.
It's in Portuguese didn't see an English button. Oh well. My portuguese is not that perfect yet. Thank goodness each post has a video. It's been live for all of May. So I went directly to the archives. You see a post about every 2 days. What makes it interesting information is that it's coming from the inside of the national team.
Here are some video posts I found interesting, haven't seen yet:
If you want to see more videoclips of the players at the Viseu Portugal training camp for the UEFA EURO 2008, speaking, training, interesting anecdotes like the children's school at Viseu, city of viseu fans... you can go on the http://ww1.rtp.pt/desporto/?headline=37&visual=17&Top=21, the sports section of the rtp.pt website . I see it every morning. It's so much fun to see the players speak and train :).
Can't wait til the blog www.tudoportodos.com fills up with player/team info and anecdotes when they get to Neuchatel, Switzerland this weekend.
What are your thoughts on www.tudoportodos.com?
Nike and the Portuguese FA, the "Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF)" jointly launched the www.tudoportodos.com blog. It will accompany the team and report its performance in the UEFA EURO 2008. It will show the Portuguese (and non-Portuguese fans like me, Cristiano Ronaldo fans, Superliga fans,) the daily life of the Portugal team. Get access to exclusive content that can't be found elsewhere.

Slogan: Este autocarro é movido a Vontade de Vencer (This coach is driven by the Will to Win).
On Thursday, May 29th, there was a 1:49 video clip about the Portugal bus on the rtp sports site. (http://ww1.rtp.pt/desporto/index.php?headline=37&visual=17&article=151163&tema=21&Top-21) online. According to the clip:
Here's the reporter showing the back of the bus
I was looking at the buses on the EURO site and here are some my thoughts:
France: Slogan: On vit ensemble, on vibre ensemble (Live together, celebrate together)
Sounds like one for all, all for one.
Germany: Slogan: Deutschland - ein Team - ein Ziel (Germany - one team - one purpose)
This slogan sounds more like soccer.
Greece: Ένα όνειρο μία ομάδα ! (One team one dream!)
And it will stay a dream because I don't think they'll be lucky enough to get to the final a g a i n.
Spain: Pase lo que pase, ESPAÑA SIEMPRE (Whatever happens, SPAIN ALWAYS)
It sounds like they're resigned to now go far enough in the EURO 2008.
Switzerland: Endstation: Wien (Final destination: Vienna)
It's a bit presumptious to assume you'll get to the final unless you're Italy, France, Germany.
Which slogan do you like best?

3 Videos- Fans on sidewalk as the Portugal national team bus arrived Neuchatel on June 1st.
ESPN TV set up TV commercials about UEFA EURO 2008 to encourage viewers to watch the EURO 2008 this summer. It's footage of players in action with supposedly traditional music as background, then a clever statement at the end. The cleverest was Italy's "If Winning Is An Art, The Italians are masters." There are commercial clips for Spain, Italy, Greece and others. Here's the Portugal clip, have you seen it yet? Let me know what you think.
It all goes by so quickly one can barely tell the number of the jerseys and their faces. It looks like footage of the EURO 2004 games. Here's who I recognized:
#7 Figo with the captain's white armband on the left arm,
The back of Cristiano Ronaldo's jersey with number 17,
It goes back and forth between Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo, and others
In second 14: Ricardo Carvalho! That was easy, the long curly hair and number 16
I thought it was interesting that they ended with Nuno Gomes with the statement "Get Ready to dance, With the Portuguese"
