Goalkeeper Ricardo "I want to stay" at Betis- After yesterday's rumors of signing with UD Palmas, he decided to stay and fight to be in #1 goalkeeper
Yesterday there was a rumor that goalkeeper Ricardo signed for UD Palmas for a year. Who would have thought that goalkeeper Ricardo would want to stay at Betis? Who? He does have 2 years left in his contract. But,
* Betis is relegated to the second division.
* Betis coach Tapia doesn't count goalkeeper Ricardo in his plans.
* Betis #1 goalkeeper is new signing Goitia
* Betis #2 goalkeeper is Casto

The Betis coach Tapia answered a question in the training ground about Ricardo's absence in the training camp in "La Malaga."
00:55 Question: "One of the first decisions the club took was to drop Ricardo from the team training in La Malaga. Did you have any influence in that decision?"
Tapia said in Spanish: "That decision was basically taken by the club. Like that of Mark [Gonzalez], and Ricardo Oliveira. One understands that the club now in the second division cannot have 3 goalkeepers."
It's clear that Betis wants nothing to do with Ricardo despite his contract. The Betis coach had told Ricardo tat he's out of his plans. The coach then drops him from the Trofeo Colombino team list. Had no choice but to put Ricardo in goal for 45 minutes because Casto was injured. Now, the coach also left Ricardo in Sevilla dropping him from the team list going to training in "La Malaga."
If the message of "move" is not clear to Ricardo.... Now I hope he signs with a Serie A club.

Goalkeeper Ricardo waiting to see his future club- coach did not include him for the Betis one-week pre-season camp in San Javier (Murcia)
Goalkeeper Ricardo is leaving Betis and a hint is that he stayed in Sevilla. Betis coach did not bring Ricardo to the one-week pre-season camp in Manga, San Javier (Murcia). Instead the two goalkeepers are Goitia, Casto, and the rest of the team are: Adrián; Melli, Rivas, Fernando Vega, Damiá, Nelson, Ilic, Nano, Óscar López, Carlos García, Lima y Toni, Capi, Arzu, Iriney, Caffa, Odonkor, Sunny, Juanma, Juande, Cañas y Rodri, Xisco, Sergio García and Pavone.
Ricardo's next team to be decided soon.

Portugal goalkeeper Ricardo won't be 1st goalkeeper at Betis- playing in Spain's second division, team Real Betis was relegated
All hopes of goalkeeper Ricardo transferring to another team are now gone. Real Betis was relegated to the second division in Spain. Their first pre-season game was on July 22, 2009. Guess what? Ricardo was not in goal! The Betis first chioce goalkeeper is new signing Iñaki Goitia from Málaga, and back-up goalkeeper is Casto. No space for Ricardo!
According to Marca on August 1, 2009, Betis coach Tapia doesn't count on goalkeeper Ricardo as first choice goalkeeper. Nonetheless, Ricardo was called up for Betis' July 25, 2009 pre-season game because Casto is unavailable.
Having clear his position at Betis, goalkeeper Ricardo has to move to another club immediately. He's one of those players like Beckham that love to play for the national team. The only way to return to Queiroz' list is to play regularly in a team, hopefully in the Serie A.
Unlike many soccer team websites, Betis doesn't have Youtube channel yet with weekly news. LAGalaxy, Chelseafc, Palermo, and Sampdoria all have training video clips and player interviews.

I was reading Pedro Ribeiro Ferreira's blog, a Portuguese caricaturist, to look at caricatures. I like to see what facial features the caricaturists decided to emphasize.
In March 2009, Ferreira headed to Poland for an exposition of caricatures particularly footballers, sponsored by Instituto Camões. He included caricatures of Portuguese footballers like Petit, Figo and of course, gk Ricardo.

Video goalkeeper Ricardo scores goal (converts a penalty) in Boavista-Beira Mar, 2002-2003
Everyone knows goalkeeper Ricardo converted a penalty in Euro2004 against England. Now, name another penalty he converted?
Back in season 2002-2003, goalkeeper Ricardo converted a penalty as a Boavista player. This was before he moved to Sporting CP.
Ricardo converts a penalty in Boavista-Beira Mar match. 65' min, 1-0, Matchday 31.
Goalkeeper Ricardo is currently suspended for being sent-off in Betis 3-3 Numancia, on April 4, 2009. By the way, he couldn't save a penalty in that game, Aranda shot to the center and gk Ricardo threw himself to the right instead.

This week is to forget for goalkeeper Ricardo. Sent-off in injury time in Betis 3-3 Numancia. Betis sacked its coach Chapatto today. He didn't favor Ricardo at all in the first half of the season. New coach Nogues- will he put Ricardo in goal as #1 once his suspension is over? Will he be another Chaparro and insist with Casto in goal no matter what the results?
