Photos Ricardo Quaresma July 2009 Inter pre-season training and games in Los Angeles, Pasadena, Boston
Ricardo Quaresma was in the USA with Inter's pre-season training in July 2009. Inter trained at UCLA from Monday, July 13, 2009 to Saturday July 18, 2009. On Sunday Inter played their first game in California in Palo Alto. On Tuesday, July 21, they played against Chelsea at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Quaresma was a substitute in the second half in Chelsea 2-0 Inter, Pasadena. Today [August 3, 2009] Inter leaves for Beijing, China to play the Supercoppa against Lazio.

Ricardo Quaresma pictures July 13, 2009, Inter pre-season training in California, USA
I went to Inter's pre-season training to meet Ricardo Quaresma! July 13, 2009 first day of training in California. He was very nice and signed 2 pieces, an Inter poster of the team and the Portugal flag. As he got off the team bus in the morning with earphones, he took them off to sign my Portugal flag and take this picture.
I really hope Quaresma plays in the starting lineup again. Was a right-winger in the training session. Força PORTUGAL!!!!
Ricardo Quaresma, Monica. He just stepped down of the team bus with earphones, heading to the changing room.
Ricardo Quaresma, Monica. Quaresma signing my Portugal flag. Autograph was an R with a number 7. I'm wearing the Argentina jersey, because I'm also a fan of the Argentina team and wanted to see Cambiasso, Burdisso, and Milito. 'Javi' Zanetti was not at the training.

Some photos I took of Ricardo Quaresma signing autographs for the fans waiting outside the dressing room:
This is after the training session. They changed into this Inter shirt to head back to the hotel for lunch. He has earphones, a bottle, huge watch on his right hand.
About the Inter pre-season training:
When did you go?
I came back from today's [July 14, 2009] training session right now. It ended at 11:45am and the players left the dressing room by 12:30pm. This time- today- most players didn't stop to sign like yesterday.
Were there a lot of people?
Yesterday there were about 50 people after the training session waiting outside the changing room. Today 300!! I think it's because there was an article about Inter training on "La Opinion" a big Spanish language newspaper here. Lots of latino fans, (I talked to some from Dominican Republic, Salvador, Colombia) and Italian fans! THe fans spoke to the players in French (Patrick Vieira was so friendly! When he came out the dressing room he told the fans 'hi, how are you today?), Italian (vogliamo la champions to JMourinho) Spanish to Cordoba, the Argentinians Burdisso, el 'cucho' Cambiasso, Milito.
Who did the fans scream for the most?
Needless to say, today as soon as Ibrahimovic stepped out of the dressing room to get on the bus, the whole crowd went to him to follow him toward the bus! 'Ibra Ibra' Everyone there can agree that he was the nicest player giving autographs to as many people as possible. Supertall guy!
Mourinho signed every piece showed to him, soccer ball and papers. He said 'I can't stop, non mi fermo' so with 1 marker signed everything!
Balotelli didn't stop or wave to the fans.
Materazzi!!! He waved to the fans, smiled at them, signed everything. He looks like a tough guys and many fans were surprised he was so nice to the fans!
Did I wait long?
That's a tough question. Yes. 2hours to get space near the plastic barriers outside the changing room. The players step out about 9am. Then I walk to the soccer field to see them training until 11:30. When they come back from the soccer field it's another 15 minutes for all of them to change and get on the team bus for lunch. Not to mention it's very hot. For a few seconds to see Quaresma, Vieira, David Suazo, it's worth it!!!!

May 18, 2008- FC Porto's Ricardo Quaresma apologises for hitting Sporting's Joao Moutinho during their Portugal Cup final football match at Estadio Nacional in Oeiras, outskirts of Lisbon.
So many reasons I liked this photo. The clear tattoos on Quaresma's arms, the close-up of his name on the jersey. The captain's armband in Joao Moutinho.

Ricardo Quaresma "When I was at Inter I wasn't feeling very confident, I wasn't playing well and wasn't happy" Interview to Chelsea, March 30, 2009
Get Chelsea jersey 08-09
When I read Ricardo Quaresma in a ChelseaTV interview in March 30, 2009 that he's happier there, it broke my heart! That means he won't want to come back to Inter. I watch the Serie A over all the other leagues.
Ricardo Quaresma's words were:
"When I was at Inter I wasn't feeling very confident, I wasn't playing well and wasn't happy. I already feel more confident here at Chelsea, it has brought joy back to me, which I didn't have at Inter."
Now my question is..... Isn't the coach supposed to instill confidence in a player? makes me wonder how much Mourinho had to do with this.
Quaresma said more in the Thursday interview on Chelsea.

Ricardo Quaresma deserves to be in the call-up list for the next 2 Portugal games?
I was surprised Ricardo Quaresma didn't make it to the call-up list this time. What's the excuse now? Since July he wasn't called up by Queiroz because he wasn't playing during the transfer market Porto-Inter. Playing regularly but not good enough at Inter.
Was involved in one of the goals in Coventry 0-2 Chelsea, March 7, 2009. See pictures of Quaresma in that game here. He played on the right side making runs to the area. He was accurate in some crosses. Turner, (Coventry) would not let him make a cross 3 times. When Turner couldn't stop Quaresma without committing a foul, Hull would double up on Quaresma.
Quaresma played comfortably, more than at Inter. I look forward to seeing Quaresma switch sides and finally scoring a trivela goal. On the other hand, I hope he gains confidence at Chelsea so he can be his best at Inter again.
How do you think he's doing at Chelsea?

Cartoon Ricardo Quaresma during transfer market, 40 or 30 million to Inter negotiations
This Cartoon with Ricardo Quaresma was published in Correio da Manhã. Will he leave or not?
Quaresma says "Ai, and I'm supposed to be the gypsy?"
He has gypsy blood in him. It's a take on Scolari's famous phrase "e o burro sou eu." This was during the transfer negotiations of fall 2008. Porto wanted 40, Itner not more than 30 million euros.
I liked that it picks on his jewelry. Notice his necklace and shiny earring.

Goalkeeper Ricardo back in the "pre-call up list" of Queiroz for the next 2 Portugal game, Sweden and friendly with South Africa
Goalkeeper Ricardo back in goal in the next Portugal game? Not really knowing how stubborn Carlos Queiroz is. So a few days ago, I commented that if Ricardo does make it back, it would be the headline---- no matter who else is a surprise in the list.
Sure enough, today the list of Portugal's pre-call-up list was announced. See for yourself the headline on Record, Portuguese paper March 9, 2009:
After seeing the 38-man pre-call up list I'd say another surprise was Chelsea 2nd choice goalkeeper Hilario.
38-man list pre-call up list by Carlos Queiroz for the decisive qualification match against Sweden (March 28, 2009) and 3 days later, South Africa in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Chelsea is the club with most called up players, 5. FC Porto e Sporting have 3 called up players each. Benfica, only 2 players.

What did you think of the players in the list?
Hilario was one of the 5 goalkeepers in the list. Will he make it to the final 2 in the call-up list?
There was no Quim because he's on the bench at Benfica.
Ricardo is in goal at Betis since late January 2009. Was on the bench in the first half of the season. Started well but looked bad in the last game Mallorca 3-3 Betis.
Eduardo is #1 in goal at Sp. Braga. He's playing in the UEFA Cup, good performances.
Daniel Fernandes, #1 goalkeeper in Bochum. Haven't seen Bochum games.
Rui Patricio returned in goal at Sporting in the last game. He had missed at least 4 games after injuring his pinky finger on his left hand.
Hilario is #2 goalkeeper at Chelsea.
4 Central defenders: Pepe (Real Madrid), Fernando Meira (Galatasaray), Bruno Alves (FC Porto), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea)
Who will be the pair in the central defense?

Video report with highlights of Portugal 4-0 Belgium, March 25, 2007, Nuno Gomes, trivela by Quaresma, 2 goals by Cristiano Ronaldo
What a distant memory --- a victory of 4 goals at home.
Here's a summary of the Portugal 4-0 Belgium, March 3, 2007. This game was famous because of what Belgium goalkeeper Stijnen said right before this game 'we'll foul Cristiano Ronaldo so bad he won't survive past the 4th minute.' Stijnen ended up by conceding 4 goals!
If you missed the game, there's a few plays in the report like Quaresma missing 2 goal opportunities in the first half yet in the second half scoring his trademark trivela goal.
March 25, 2007- Video "Resumo da RTP do jogo Portugal - Bélgica, com vitória para a nossa Selecção, por 4-0. "
(RTP's summary of Portugal v. Belgium, victory for our national team by 4-0)
English translation:
Reporter: "47,000 voices sang the national anthem at the Alvalade stadium.
This Portugal v. Belgium game was naturally marked by the statements of Belgian goalkeeper Stijnen about Cristiano Ronaldo. Words that fans didn't forget. This night was also marked by the presence of Rui Costa and Figo in the stands."
00:18 Reporter: "Nuno Gomes was chosen as the striker. Joao moutni did the job of Deco. The young lion did the job of Deco. He set up the first goal opportunity and Ricardo Quaresma missed."
00:28 "The first half was not high quality stuff. The national team had created only 2 goal opportunities. This is the second one, a pass by Tiago but not accurately converted, once more, by Quaresma."
00:38 Before halftime, Cristiano Ronaldo was hugged by a Belgian central defender. However, the Greek referee Vassaris instead gave a yellow card to Cristiano Ronaldo for simulation."
00:49 "In the second half, the team improved. After the first 3 minutes, Tiago set up a goal opportunity for Nuno Gomes. However, Nuno Gomes shot wide after being signalled as off-side. In the play of 1-0, Cristiano Ronaldo, Moutinho, and Nuno Gomes achieved what was the hardest thing, score the first goal in Alvalade."
01:15 "The 2-0 happened when Quaresma crossed it to Cristiano Ronaldo and headed it into goal. Goalkeeper Stijnen doesn't look good here."
01:25 "In the 20th minute of the second half, the Portuguese defense was distracted and almost conceded a goal. Belgium didn't convert this chance and Portugal woudl score once more. Quaresma was inspired in this moment and scored a trivela goal. Quaresma's goal brought the game to 3-0. This moment of inspiration deserves to be seen and seen again in this night. Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the 4th goal."
