Next Portugal game, Albania - Portugal, June 6, 2009, 2010 world cup qualification match

At this point it seems like too much to ask. For Albania - Portugal, June 6, 2009, I want:
-- 3 goals all in action no set-pieces or penalties.
-- Queiroz to call-up at least 3 strikers and use 2.
-- Queiroz to include an experienced striker like Nuno Gomes or Helder Postiga.
-- include a back-up "new" striker like Eliseu (Malaga), Edinho (AEK), or Orlando Sa (Sp. Braga).

The good thing to come out of the draw Portugal 0-0 Sweden was that Portugal jumped one place, now 3rd.

The Group 1 table as of April 1, 2009:
Photobucket

Sweden:
4th place Sweden next game is Sweden - Denmark, June 6, 2009. I have to root for Sweden so Denmark can start losing points. After that, June 10, 2009 Sweden - Malta.

Denmark:
Too strong period. On April 1, 2009, they beat Albania 3-0 securing their 1st place in the table! Denmark was already winning 2-0 in the 37th minute. Tiago's Juventus teammate, Poulsen, scored the 3rd goal in the 80th minute. Poulsen was a substitute, coming on in the 46th minute.

Portugal tied with Albania at home 0-0 in October 2008!

Goodbye Africa, It seems impossible- cover of O Jogo, Record, March 29, 2009. A

"Goodbye Africa, It seems impossible." These headlines describe perfectly what I felt after Portugal 0-0 Sweden, March 28, 2009. Why can't they win at least a home game?

Why isn't there a striker to convert the chances, only until the second half. Queiroz only called up 1 striker! Hugo Almeida. He had dropped Edinho form the list for the Sweden game! I sympathize with Nuno Gomes fans.

As a fan of Paulo Ferreira, I couldn't believe Queiroz didn't include a back-up right-back for the Sweden game. After Bosingwa got injured in the game, only a back up left back and center back were on the bench, no back-up right-back!

Record points out that Portugal has the same points as Albania. It sounds unbelievable because Portugal has superstars in almost every area, defense, and midfielders.

Denmark - 4 games 10 points, Hungary - 5 games, 10 points, Sweden 4 games 6 points, Alabania - 6 games 6 points

GOODBYE AFRICA

4 penalties not given- According to Queiroz's calculations
Nobody gives up- (throws the towel)
The coach and the players still believe they'll qualify

'Without goals there aren't miracles' Cristiano Ronaldo cover of A Bola, March 29, 2009, day after Portugal 0-0 Sweden

Photobucket

I liked A Bola's headline. They refer to the constant 0-0 draws at home. I think more players deserved to be on the cover since they were the ones who shot wide.

The Portugal team did attack, create chances but few on target. Most shots were wide. Two long-range shots from Deco. One from Raul Meireles, one Simao shot also went wide. Two from Danny.

What does one expect when Queiroz does not put a striker in the starting lineup?

A Bola, March 29, 2009
English translation:
270 minutes without goals (in white) leave Portugal far away from the world cup.

WITHOUT GOALS THERE AREN'T MIRACLES

57 shots in the last 3 qualification matches, 0 goals

"We can't do more than this. We are satisfied by our game, what we played."

"Football is for those who score and win. We are very frustrated but we will recover the lost points."- Carlos Queiroz

--------
I'm listening to the game on Antena1 and watching the livestream, since it's not on TV here. Figo, Pauleta and Fernando Couto were in the dressing room to give support to the team.

Goalkeeper Beto was left out of this game's call-up list. Bochum's goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes on the bench. I'm still surprised there is no forward. Queiroz even dared to leave out Edinho from this list too.
---------
