Trying out Disqus as the comments form- have you used it?

The Google system for comments. I wish it had more features. Like "Reply to this," less space in between comments and other things. I found this comment form that has all that! You don't need to have a Google account to upload your avatar or profile picture!

Disqus is a comment form embedded at the bottom of each post. One doesn't need to leave the page to write a comment anymore. Let me know what you thought of it, quicker comment form?

About me- Monica 08

My name is Monica 08. One of my favorite teams is Portugal. I wonder what it needs to finally win tournaments consistently.

I started this blog in May to share thoughts about the Portugal games and players with other fans of the Portugal team and soccer fans.

I'm an American in the United States and still learning Portuguese. Two years ago I started to watch the Portugal games and follow it closely. All the detailed information online was in Portuguese and the sections in soccer forums were practically empty except on BigSoccer.

At the time I didn't know Portuguese so it was hard not to be able to comment on blogs or forums. Or, once they knew I wasn't Portuguese they'd say "a foreigner/ estrangeira..." and proceed to not take me seriously.

Let's face it, Portugal is not a very popular team with lots of fans around the world, compared to Brazil, Italy or France.

In the last 2 years, I started watching online the analysis in "Trio D'Ataque."

Almost every day, I read on Google reader Record.pt and some portuguese blogs: Linha Avançada, Alvaláxia Sporting, Revista Futebolista, A paxao do futebol, Hélder Postiga 23, Postiga The Best, and Sportingar.

So far I was lucky to meet Carvalho and Ferreira after a Chelsea pre-season training in California, U.S.A, in July 2006 and 2007. They autographed the Portugal flag and picture for me. I hope to meet the other players soon. Here's a picture I took of them:

Still need to do- see a Portugal game in Portugal, see the players in a public training.

My Favorite team: Portugal, Argentina.

My Favorite Clubs: Sporting Lisboa, AS Roma, and Chelsea FC.

I try to watch the Chelsea games every weekend on Fox Soccer channel. When Rai International broadcasts the AS Roma games I watch them live at 6am. Sporting Lisboa games I like to hear online on Antena1.

After living Italy, I also follow closely the Italy team, la nazionale azzurra, and the Serie A. I don't miss "La Domenica Sportiva" on Rai international.

Can't wait for the Euro 2008 to start!

Can't wait for the Euro 2008 to start! Realistically I know Italy will win. If not, it's France.

My favorite is Portugal, I have high expectations for them and hopefully they go as far as they can.

I think key to Portugal is them scoring goals and keeping their lead.

Glad Carvalho is training with Chelsea again. He needs to be his best competitive self during the Euro2008. I hope he 'does his job' like always since the first game. Here's a picture I took of him at a Chelsea pre-season training at UCLA in L.A., CA back in July 2006.

Ferreira. He's one of my favorite players. Don't know if he'll be in the starting line-up or be a sub.

Realistically, who do you think will win the Euro 2008?

Your favorite team to win it?

Take care,

Monica

Started a soccer blog to share opinions on the Portugal team and Euro 2008

Hi,
I can't wait for the Euro 2008. My favorite team to win the whole shebang is Portugal. Here in Los Angeles, CA it's not as popular yet so I started this blog to share opinions on how Portugal plays in the Euro 2008 and the Superliga.

I'm also a fan of Sprting Lisboa, AS Roma and Chelsea. Looking forward to meeting more soccer bloggers around the world. Most of my friends are for Italy or France- hey no problem, big teams, winning teams.

A presto,
Até já!
Hasta luego!
Take care!

Monica
