Talk about being prepared with the team colors. A scarf, the huge flag.

Of course there's going to be Cristiano Ronaldo fans.

From Japan with love- Fan came from Japan to Viseu, Portugal to meet Portugal defender Paolo Ferreira

Portugal defender Paolo Ferreira met the fan who came all the way from Japan to see him. And she didn't come to see Cristiano Ronaldo? Wow! Her name is Tomoyo Yasumoto and he gave her a Chelsea jersey.Photo: www.Record.pt/fotogaleria_imagemEuro2008.asp?id=788330

That's not fair :(. I'm his number one fan. Here's a picture I took with him back in July 2006, at a Chelsea pre-season training at UCLA, CA.

- Are you a fan of Ferreira?

Portugal national team manager Scolari- made of bread! During the Viseu Portugal training camp.

Soccer fever even gets to the bakers! In Viseu, there was a bakery who made bread that looks like Scolari, then support messages for the team.

Can you recognize Scolari on the left?

Is the Portugal national team only Cristiano Ronaldo plus 10? How fair is the tv coverage?

I'm asking because I just saw the 6am edition of the tv news "telediario" on the TVE, TV Espana, a TV channel from Spain on my Time Warner Cable.

In the last 10 minutes dedicated to the sports, they covered the Viseu Portugal training camp in 30 seconds.

Wow! Much better to see the clips on TV than on my computer.

But here's where I got kind of mad. I like to know more about the other 22 or 11 players at the camp.

They started with:

"Portugal inicio hoy su assalto al europeo." (Portugal started today their training for the EURO 2008). Here's a picture of CR and Carvalho on the left.

I couldn't believe it. I said, "What? What do you mean? They're been in Viseu for 3 days already. Including Deco. Just because CRonaldo arrived 4 days later doesn't mean the rest of the team just sat around.

Then they said

"Su estrella Cristiano Ronaldo, pretendido por el Real Madrid, es el foco de atencion. El portugues pone fecha a la decision de su futuro."
(Its star, Cristiano Ronaldo, wanted by Real Madrid, was the focus of attention. The portuguese set a date for his future)

The clip then goes to the press conference, the part where he says in portuguese, "in 2 or 3 weeks, so I won't say anymore."

That's it. I don't blame them because they have to do what gives them ratings. Business is business. If just saying CRonaldo works, it's ok. At least mention the other players in the big clubs, like Nani from Man U, Carvalho and Ferreira from Chelsea and Barcelona player Deco.

- Do you think the news about Portugal team is treated as if it was Cristiano Ronaldo plus 10?

What are your thoughts?

What Portugal national team soccer player is he? Tatoo

Hint 1: a midfielder.

Hint 2: scored a goal against Chelsea on February 21st, 2007 in the Champions League, 1st leg match Porto 1 - 1 Chelsea.

He tatooed the 3 stars that shows his club, FC Porto, won the league 3 times in a row. In today's press-conference before the training, he was asked about his tatoos and he replied that if Portugal win the EURO 2008, he'll get a new tattoo.

He is Raul Meireles, midfielder from FC Porto.

Cute picture of a doll dressed up with the Red and Green Portugal colors, ready for Euro 2008

Do you have all your national team colors ready for the start of UEFA EURO 2008 on June 7? This doll sure does!

This morning I saw the video clip where the TV interviewed all the players arriving at Hotel Montbelo in Viseu. When they filmed how the city of "Viseu" was preparing to receive the national team players, this doll came up displayed at a store. It was so cute I had to take a picture and show it to you!

19 more days for Portugal's 1st match on the inauguration day of UEFA EURO 2008!

UEFA EURO 2008 officially starts on Saturday June 7, 2008. Portugal will be playing its first match on inauguration day.

I'll be watching it on TV on ESPN. Glad it's on cable. I remember I had to pay about $20 to see the EURO 2004 final, Portugal-Greece, on a pay per view channel on Time Warner Cable.

Only Group A plays on inauguration day so that means Portugal:

1st: Switzerland- Czech Republic in Basel - St. Jakob-Park Local time 18:45,

right after: Portugal - Turkey in Geneva - Stade de Genève Local time 20:45

Every morning I go (online) to the sports news videos on rtp.pt to see if the Portugal players appear. Today and yesterday no mention of them. It's all about the Taca de Portugal final between Sporting and Porto. Sporting won.

On May 12 and 13 there were many clips on Viseu, the city where they will "concentrate".

Where did you buy your national team soccer jersey to watch the Euro 2008?

The Euro is starting and I don't have a Portugal home team soccer jersey for 08/09 yet. I still don't know where to buy it at:

online at Subside, World Soccer Shop, ProSoccer, Eurosport, ESPN shop, NikeStore

or

at a store in the Los Angeles, CA area, like Nike, or Soccerstores.

I'd like to buy it before the tournament starts, in case for some weird case, Portugal not make it after group A. At World Soccer Shop the home jersey is $69,99.
