Now we know who Portugal will face in their next friendly! The Faroe Islands.

What a test for Queiroz. When I heard it online I just smiled in disbelief. I said "no other country was available to face Portugal or why exactly did the Portuguese FA choose them?

No disrespect to the Faroe Islands team. They were in the 2006 qualifying group with France. Italy played against them this year too. Here are their results:

---- Friendly- France 5 - 0 Faroe Islands, Paris, November 9, 2006

---- Euro 2008 qualifyer: Faroe Islands 1 - 2 Italy, June 2, 2007. In this case Italy underperformed and it was a draw until Italy scored the winning goal to bring the game to 2-1- in the 77th minute.

Still. I think Portugal needs to keep facing "big teams" in the FIFA top 15. We need to see a real test of strength and character. Look what happened when the faced Germany i nthe Euro 2008. Even when they faced Serbia in the Euro 2008 qualifying game in Portugal (draw 1-1). How about the defeat against Italy in February 2008? Italy 3-1 Portugal!

This reminds me when Portugal faced "Al-Salmiyah" on June 25th, 2007 in Saudi Arabia. Guess what the result was "Portugal 1 - 1 Al-Salmiyah." Granted, in the call up list there wasn't Cristiano Ronaldo or goalkeeper Ricardo.

Here's a little more about the Faroe Islands national team:

Member of FIFA and UEFA in 1988. In their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, they conceded 43 goals and scored only four.

- What do you think of Portugal's next friendly against the Faroe Islands?
