While still waiting for the next Portugal game against almighty Brazil on Nov. 19, 2008, I was looking at the jersey number Paolo Ferreira might wear.
No longer wears #2 like in the Euro 2008
In the Euro 2008 he wore #2. In the last qualifiers that number went to a central defender. Jose Bosingwa wears #2. When Bosingwa is injured the number # 2 goes to former FC Porto teammate Bruno Alves.
Wore # 3 in the last 2 qualifiers
It turns out Paolo Ferreira wore 2 different numbers in the recent 2010 world cup qualifiers. As a defender he can wear the numbers from 2 to 6. The players with those numbers are Bosingwa, Ricardo Carvalho, Pepe, Miguel and Bruno Alves. In the last 2 qualifiers Ferreira wore # 3.
Ricardo Carvalho was injured in the last 2 games. If he's still not fit for the next friendly on Nov. 19, 2008 I think Ferreira will keep the # 3. When Carvalho's back for the next Portugal qualifier in March 2009, then the numbers will switch again. Carvalho had # 4 the last time he played so Ferreira might wear # 5 - like the numbers in the Portugal 2-3 Denmark game.
