Nuno Gomes a substitute in the 80th minute in Naval 1-2 Benfica, March 8, 2009

PhotobucketNuno Gomes is not going through a good moment this month. His playing time is becoming minimal. He had played 27 minutes in February 2009.

In the last Benfica game he scored a goal after 7 minutes on the soccer field, despite being a substitute. After that game I knew Quique, the stubborn one, might still not put Nuno Gomes in the starting lineup. He might gradually give him more minutes in the second half. Instead of coming on in the 80th minute, probably 50th minute.

Unfortunately, Quique continued with this trend and put Nuno Gomes until the 80th minute today. Quique preferred striker Cardozo in the starting lineup.

Today in Matchday 21, Naval 1-2 Benfica, Nuno Gomes came off the bench in the 80th minute! By the time he replaced his competition, striker Oscar Cardozo, the result was Naval 1-2 Benfica.

With today's victory Benfica is now in the second place in the table. It has 43 points and the leader FC Porto has 45 points. Sporting, my favorite team has 41 points.
