Quim's viseu portugal training press conference, Monday May 26

Today Monday May 26, it was Benfica goalkeeper, Quim's turn to go to the pre-training press conference. Here's what he said in portuguese, 4min video:

About the group in the 23 man final squad in Viseu:

The spirit has maintained itself in these 2 years and we are all hopeful of making a good European championship. Better or the same as the last one [Euro 2004]. We hope to work game by game, do the best and get to the final.

The question on every fan's minds- whether he will be the starting goalkeeper instead of Ricardo:

I don't have to think about anything. I have to do my job the best possible way. The choice belongs to the national

team manager. Here we are 23 and barely 11 will play. From the moment I am called up, the objective is to play. It will always bemy job, unfortunately in the national team ["Selecção"] things have not gone so well, but the choice is always of the national team manager.

About the massive support the Portugal team has:

It's a great pride to represent the national team ["Selecção"]. After the last European championship and World Cup, the responsibility is even greater. We hope to show quality and to win. That is our objective.

About reaching the UEFA EURO 2008 final:

In whatever situation, I want to be there and I know that we'll do everything to get to that game. Being a starting goalkeeper or in the substitutes bench.

About the loss of important players like Figo and Pauleta

There are players with experience that left the national team, but everyone of us, we have to be leaders. And we'll do everything so that things go well. The unity is fundametal and not just the work of one or another player.

-The last part where he said "not just the work of one or another player," to me that sounded like a jibe to Cristiano Ronaldo's media overexposure. What do you think?
