Hugo Almeida has a youtube channel http://youtube.com/Hugo23Almeida with short interviews almost daily! Nice! Here's a video of him signing autographs after a Werder Bremen training session on August 3, 2009.

He's asked in Portuguese:

00:24 Question: So, how is to like to return to training after a one-month vacation?

Hugo Almeida: A month vacation? Too little time. It's not easy to return to training after being relaxed the last 15 days. It's not easy. That's work.

01:06 Question: About the Portugal team, how do you see it?

Hugo Almeida: "It's always nice, always an honor to represent the country. I'm happy mainly because there aren't any injuries yet."

Official videos of Portugal soccer team, game highlights, player interviews?

The US Soccer team just re-vamped their official website usssoccer.com . There's a big 'multimedia' section with the US team's game highlights, Studio90 news, player interviews. See their videos here.

As a Portugal team fan, I'd like to see game highlight videos of the team too on their official website http://www.fpf.pt Since the Euro 2008, it only has text articles and no section for videos or photos of the Portugal games ;-( I look forward to quickly finding Portugal training videos on the FPF site. A Youtube channel like http://youtube.com/ussoccerdotcom

Portugal goalkeeper Ricardo won't be 1st goalkeeper at Betis- playing in Spain's second division, team Real Betis was relegated

All hopes of goalkeeper Ricardo transferring to another team are now gone. Real Betis was relegated to the second division in Spain. Their first pre-season game was on July 22, 2009. Guess what? Ricardo was not in goal! The Betis first chioce goalkeeper is new signing Iñaki Goitia from Málaga, and back-up goalkeeper is Casto. No space for Ricardo!

According to Marca on August 1, 2009, Betis coach Tapia doesn't count on goalkeeper Ricardo as first choice goalkeeper. Nonetheless, Ricardo was called up for Betis' July 25, 2009 pre-season game because Casto is unavailable.

Having clear his position at Betis, goalkeeper Ricardo has to move to another club immediately. He's one of those players like Beckham that love to play for the national team. The only way to return to Queiroz' list is to play regularly in a team, hopefully in the Serie A.

Unlike many soccer team websites, Betis doesn't have Youtube channel yet with weekly news. LAGalaxy, Chelseafc, Palermo, and Sampdoria all have training video clips and player interviews.

Betis pre-season games:
New signing Goitia was in goal in SANLUQUEÑO 0-3 Betis, July 22, 2009
(lineup: Goitia, Ilic, Melli, Rivas, Fernando Vega, Arzu, Sunny, Odonkor, Rodri, Xisco y Pavone. Subs: Adrián, Carlos García, Lima, Nano, Sergio García, Óscar López, Juande, Juanma, Manu Gavilán, Damián y Rubén Cruz. )

Roteña 0-5 Betis, July 25, 2009

Lineup: Ricardo, Óscar López, Melli, Nano, Toni, Arzu, Juande, Juanma, Xisco, Sergio García y Pavone. SUbstitutes included: Casto, Ilic, Carlos García, Rivas, Fernando Vega, Sunny, Álex Ortiz, Odonkor, Capi, Rodri y Manu Gavilán.

Ricardo was in goal in the second pre-season game of Betis but didn't play all 90 minutes. He was substituted by Casto!

Next pre-season games of Betis are for the Trofeo Colombino
August 8, 2009, Betis - Zaragoza
August 9, 2009, Recreativo - Betis

Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea) "I want to forget last season because I am focusing on being fit for the start of this season" August 1, 2009

Caricature of Ferreira with the Chelsea jersey 2006

Paulo Ferreira made news today by telling The Mirror that Ancelotti has confidence in him.

Ferreira, 30, held showdown talks with Ancelotti, who told him he is still in Chelsea's plans. The full-back said: "I want to forget last season because I am focusing on being fit for the start of this season and I will be at my maximum level by September.

"It was important that the manager rated me and has confidence in me. I will be part of his plans and there are opportunities to get in the team. No-one can doubt my commitment, I will always give 100 per cent but if you're not 100 per cent then you can't help the team and that was my problem last season."

======
I'm inclined to agree with these comments on Vitalfootball Chelsea:
Paulo is the very definition of a fringe player. It goes to show how strong the overall squad is when you consider that fact. If we sell him, his contribution to our play won't at all be missed. Then again, it's not my money, so who am I to complain about keeping a good player around?
---RadioactiveD
no one wants him or at least no one wants to pay anything for him so i guess we are stuck with him, i think he's happy to just collect his paycheck too
----nimz
But at some point or other,we have to let him go.Why not now? we should really give Mancienne and Hutchinson the cover job.
---blueKnightz09

====
Monica08: Bosingwa had a great game against AC milan this pre-season. I'm looking forward to seeing Belletti play. Mourinho, Scolari -- will Ancelotti follow the trend and keep Ferreira on the bench as the 3rd or 4th right-back choice? I hope not.

Ferreira says he's focusing in the coming season and wants to forget about last season. Ok, Ancelotti told him he has confidence in him. Part of his plans-- how big is his part? 2nd or 3rd choice? League games? League and Champions League games? A stay at Chelsea is so risky. The good news is that he predicts he'll be back by September. The 2 September qualifiers would be too soon. He's got to be called up for the 2 Portugal qualification matches in October 2009.

Next Portugal game is on August 12, 2009. One more month for Ferreira to be available for the call-up list. Who will Queiroz call for right-back and left back? Besides Bosingwa of course.
