I want Portugal to beat Brazil for the third consecutive time, says Cristiano Ronaldo about Brazil - Portugal friendly on Nov. 19, 2008

Nov. 19, 2008 friendly
Brasilia, Brazil

I was reading the Portuguese FA site to find out more about the friendly Brazil - Portugal. I knew that for Portugal it was more than a friendly. I was surprised to read that Kaka' wanted to win this friendly just as much. Brazil can win any game on paper they're among the best teams in the world and they have the trophies to prove it.

Nov. 3, 2008- Cristiano Ronaldo said in Portuguese to Portal do Futebol (Portuguese FA, fpf.pt):

“The games between Portugal and Brazil have always been special. Recently, especially due to the progress of our national team they've become a real challenge because of the quality of both teams. I think that the last Portugal – Brazil, in London, was a great show. I have lots of great memories from that game, also because of the result but also because it was the first time I was captain of the national team.

Even taking into consideration the timing of this game I think that all the players really want to be present. I also think it is a nice way of congratulating Brazil, our brother country, for hosting the 2014 world cup, but obviously, I hope that Portugal beats them for the third consecutive time."

Kaka' on the other hand hopes to reverse the trend and help Brazil win.

“For me, it has a special feeling to play against Portugal in Brasília, because it's the city where I was born, and because it's the capital of Brazil (that is close to celebrating 50 years), where the Brazil team hasn't played in a long time. I know of all the support and interest that the authorities of Brasília are giving to the event. I hope the game reaches the high expectations and that Brazil wins.

“We want this game to be, above all, a big party and a great game of football. From both sides there will be players capable of doing magnificent things. This can be a good opportunity for Brazilians to start feeling what will occur in the 2014 world cup."
