Goalkeeper Ricardo wins pre-season trophy with Real Betis, August 17, 2008 Trofeo Fiesta de Elche

It was easier to follow goalkeeper Ricardo every week when he was at Sporting in the Portuguese League. Now at Real Betis, a club that doesn't really make the headlines on L'Equipe or major Sports papers. Unless it's the derby against Sevilla. Difficult to know if he's the 1st choice goalkeeper in the club, if the coach favors the 2nd goalkeeper instead...

By the way, new Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz DID NOT call him up for the next Portugal game on August 20th, Portugal - Faroe Islands. (It was obvious to every Portuguese fan and analyst that Ricardo didn't deserve a place in the starting 11. This because Benfica goalkeeper was in the best shape of his life and Ricardo was showing errors in the Portugal Euro 2008 qualifying games. They didn't understand why new Chelsea coach Scolari INSISTED in using Ricardo. At last, Queiroz 'has the guts' to not even call up Ricardo and give a chance to Quim.)
