Portugal national team Training, Thursday, closed to the public, at Viseu for UEFA EURO 2008

Today was the 1st tactical training at Estádio do Fontelo, in Viseu,SmileyCentral.com Portugal. It was closed to the public but open to the media. Not all 23 players were in the training.

Six players didn't train with the group. The 2 brasilian-born players, right back Miguel, and midfielder Deco were recovering. Here's a picture of Pepe and Deco from today:

Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Ricardo Carvalho, and Paulo Ferreira, well, we all saw that Champions League final yesterday. Those 4 join the group tomorrow Friday.

Habitual Press-conference before the training with the 2 players: Simao Sabrosa and midfielder Raul Meireles.

Referring to a team without the influential Figo and comparing it to EURO 2004 Simao said,

"In Euro 2004, there was a consolidated group, with players that knew each other for a long time, like Figo, Rui Costa and Fernando Couto. This group still is forming but we're on our way. There is great unity in these 23 players, but we're still forming the group."

According to record.pt newspaper, for half an hour, Scolari used and rotated the starting 11 as defenders. The defenders present were Bosingwa (the new Chelsea player), Bruno Alves, Fernando Meira e Jorge Ribeiro.

After about an hour and a half, the training ended with free kicks.

Tomorrow's training:

- Training at 5pm local time- Open to the public.

- Press conference before the training with 2 of the national team players.

The team has 1 friendly on May 31st against Georgia before leaving to Neuchatel for the UEFA EURO 2008. Euro 2008 match schedule in Group A

1) against Turkey, June 7, Geneva 2) Czech Republic June 11, 3) Switzerland, June 15 in Basel (where Roger Federer is from).
