Video of the behind-the-scenes photo session of the Sporting CP 09-10 jerseys. It's a fun relaxed environment. Each player gets make-up on their face, mainly foundation. I liked the coach's make-up treatment. He doesn't smile much.

00:45 Rui Patricio white training jacket, black with think white stripes Puma polo shirt, all black goalkeeper outfit, socks, short, jersey. 00:47 Rui Patricio putting on the polo shirt.

Helder Postiga on the bench for Taça da Liga final, March 21, 2009. Bento chose instead the forward duo of Liedson and Derlei.

At 18:39, when the Sporting team already arrived at Alagarve stadium, Postiga said on SIC Noticias: "In these moments, it's more about concentration than anything else. All the players feel a little anxious, but that is normal."

Helder Postiga called up for Saturday's final taca da liga- had missed the last 4 Sporting games

This Saturday the final of the Taca da liga between Sporting v. Benfica.

The news is that Helder Postiga is finally back on the call-up list. Can this striker be added to Carlos Queiroz' list? It cannot be that only Hugo Almeida makes the list for the next 2 games.

19-men call-up list for Sporting:

* Goalkeepers: Rui Patrício e Tiago.
* Defenders: Abel, Pedro Silva, Daniel Carriço, Anderson Polga, Caneira, Tonel e Ronny.
* Midfielders: Adrien, Rochemback, Pereirinha, João Moutinho, Romagnoli e Vuckevic.

Video goalkeeper Ricardo with matchball EngPor, Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal training camp after beating England, 2006 World Cup, with screenshots

It was during the World Cup 2006. Mostly images and little talk so I included screenshots of the video. It feels like one happened to walk in the team camp.

01:15 Beating England in the penalty shootout.

Watching on the screen, the Portugal team celebrate on the soccer pitch, after winning in the penalty shootout against England.

Goalkeeper Ricardo watching. Then, wearing the light blue kit on a corner praying. Ricardo Carvalho wearing the Portugal uniform also.

Narrator: "Faith, it starts in the net and then it spreads. Faith and soul, like the ball, moves a whole country. In a group, always in a group.

The dressing room and players walking out. Deco getting something from the fridge. Ricardo Carvalho leaving.

All this time there's music in the background and no explanation of what's going on.

01:51- Celebrating Cristiano Ronaldo's birthday in the camp

The Portugal players with their green polo shirts, singing 'happy birthday' in Portuguese to Cristiano Ronaldo. A cake is brought out with candles 'firework' style. Maniche is sitted next to CR7.

Some players wearing the red polo shirt.

03:03

03:14 Narrator: The secrets that faith doesn't control has a name. The name of each one of the players.

Players in the room for the lecture by Scolari about the game.

03:57 Everyone is wearing a green polo shirt. In the front row there is Figo, to his left goalkeeper Ricardo. In the back, Paulo Ferreira.

The last 2 minutes is an interview with goalkeeper Ricardo. I put it on this post.

Goalkeeper Ricardo back in the "pre-call up list" of Queiroz for the next 2 Portugal game, Sweden and friendly with South Africa

Goalkeeper Ricardo back in goal in the next Portugal game? Not really knowing how stubborn Carlos Queiroz is. So a few days ago, I commented that if Ricardo does make it back, it would be the headline---- no matter who else is a surprise in the list.

Sure enough, today the list of Portugal's pre-call-up list was announced. See for yourself the headline on Record, Portuguese paper March 9, 2009:
Photobucket

After seeing the 38-man pre-call up list I'd say another surprise was Chelsea 2nd choice goalkeeper Hilario.

38-man list pre-call up list by Carlos Queiroz for the decisive qualification match against Sweden (March 28, 2009) and 3 days later, South Africa in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Chelsea is the club with most called up players, 5. FC Porto e Sporting have 3 called up players each. Benfica, only 2 players.
-------
Chelsea:Deco,
Ricardo Quaresma,
Hilário,
Bosingwa
Ricardo Carvalho

FC Porto: Bruno Alves
Raul Meireles
Rolando
Hélder Postiga,
João Moutinho
Rui Patrício, goalkeeper Sporting)
Simão e Maniche (Atlético de Madrid)

Ruben Amorim
Nuno Gomes

Nelson
Ricardo, R. Betis goalkeeper

Orlando Sá
Eduardo, Sp. Braga goalkeeper

Málaga: Eliseu
Duda

Nani
Cristiano Ronaldo

Manuel Fernandes, Miguel
Edinho (AEK)
Varela (Estrela da Amadora)

José Gonçalves (Nuremberga)
Danny (Zenit)
Fernando Meira (Galatasaray)
Tiago (Juventus)
Beto (Leixões)

Pedro Mendes (Rangers)
Pepe (Real Madrid)
Gonçalo Brandão (Siena)

Hugo Almeida (Werder Bremen)
Daniel Fernandes (Bochum)
André Marques (Vitória de Setúbal)
------

What did you think of the players in the list?

Hilario was one of the 5 goalkeepers in the list. Will he make it to the final 2 in the call-up list?

There was no Quim because he's on the bench at Benfica.

Ricardo is in goal at Betis since late January 2009. Was on the bench in the first half of the season. Started well but looked bad in the last game Mallorca 3-3 Betis.

Eduardo is #1 in goal at Sp. Braga. He's playing in the UEFA Cup, good performances.

Daniel Fernandes, #1 goalkeeper in Bochum. Haven't seen Bochum games.

Rui Patricio returned in goal at Sporting in the last game. He had missed at least 4 games after injuring his pinky finger on his left hand.

Hilario is #2 goalkeeper at Chelsea.

4 Central defenders: Pepe (Real Madrid), Fernando Meira (Galatasaray), Bruno Alves (FC Porto), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea)

Who will be the pair in the central defense?

Striker Helder Postiga injured on left knee in last game Sporting 3-2 Benfica, out for the 3 weeks. Misses the next Portugal game on Mar 28, 2009

It really is a pity that this injury came less than a month away from the next Portugal game. The Sporting medical department announced that Postiga will be away from the soccer fields for at least the next 3 weeks.

He was the Portuguese striker in the best form these days. Now who else will be on Queiroz's list?

Nuno Gomes played last 10 minutes, Helder Postiga injured and replaced in 27th minute- Sporting 3-2 Benfica Feb 21 2009 Which strikers will be called?

Which striker will be on Queiroz's call up list for the next game Portugal v. Sweden, March 28, 2009? Are Nuno Gomes and Helder Postiga off the list for now?

These Portugal strikers had bad luck today in the game Sporting 3-2 Benfica.

Nuno Gomes- still not in the starting lineup. Quique put him on the 79th minute to replace Ruben Amorim.

Helder Postiga- bad luck. The Portuguese striker that's in best shape in the Portuguese league was in the starting lineup! However, he got injured on the left knee during the game and had to be replaced in the 27th minute. After the game, Sporting's medical department said that it's unlikely for Postiga to be fit for this wednesday's Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

Video Helder Postiga interview in Portuguese after Portugal 4-0 Belgium Mar 2007

I saw this interview at least 100 times. This was after the great result (boy we haven't had such a positive result since this game) winning by 4 goals AT HOME. What a difference Carlos Queiroz makes. Drawing nil-nil at home in important games.

Anyway, Helder Postiga talks about always wanting to be in the starting lineup always. He thanks the home fans for filling the stadium and voicing their support during the game.

Alcochete, Portugal Nov 27 2008- After yesterday's embarassing defeat at home Sporting 2-5 Barcelona, Sporting has no choice but to look ahead to this weekend's league game against V. Guimarães. Guys, "levantar a cabeça!" (Chin-up)

It's sad that my favorite team Sporting CP had to concede 5 goals at home. Granted one was an own-goal by Caneira. Sporting already played twice against Manchester United and didn't concede more than 2 goals from them.

On the other hand, I'm glad Miguel Veloso scored. Helder Postiga coming on in the 70th minute tried but couldn't score.
